Project Management in Emerging Economies – Practice meets Research

IPMA’s 3rd research conference to be in Stellenbosch, South Africa in November

17 May 2015 – Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Pretoria, South Africa – The International Project Management Association (IPMA) has announced that their 3rd IPMA Research Conference will take place on the 25th and 26th of November 2015 at SPIER Estate (see photo below), Stellenbosch, South Africa. It will be Co-hosted by the University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria and University of Stellenbosch Business School.

The main theme is “Project Management in Emerging Economies – Practice meets Research”. The theme addresses the increasing demand of management approaches for projects, programs and portfolios in emerging economies, including but not limited to Africa, Asia and Latin America. The design of the IPMA Research Conference again allows for a maximum of interaction and exchange between researchers, experts, scholars and practitioners. The proceedings will be published next year.

What is the situation regarding project management in emerging economies? Which management approaches are needed and how are they provided by the profession? What are insights from research in this regard? How can these economies learn from each other and from already mature economies? Which exchange platforms are available and how could they made available for economies without access? These only a few questions of interest, more to come through a CfP.
