PMI UK Chapter Celebrates 20th Anniversary



13 May 2015 – Philadelphia, PA, USA and London, UK – The United Kingdom chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) celebrates its 20th anniversary this month with an event held during PMI® Global Congress 2015—EMEA.

Chartered in 1995, PMI UK Chapter has grown to include more than 3,000 members from a variety of backgrounds. The chapter holds daytime and evening events at many cities throughout the UK and is active in promoting project management to industry and government organisations, fostering an environment for its members that provides world-class opportunities for personal and professional development. Within the UK, the chapter supports local committees that serve members in specific regions: London, Midlands, North West, Oxford and East England, Scotland, South, and South West.

150513-pmwj34-uk-LOGOOver the past 20 years, the PMI UK Chapter has witnessed, and influenced, the evolution of the project management profession; thanks in part to the Chapter’s efforts, today’s project managers are more likely to be key drivers at the forefront of their organisations’ strategic efforts and are more likely to be valued as high-level, strategic resources than project managers were in the past.  Its networking and professional development opportunities have helped its members truly understand the businesses they work for, understand how their project portfolios fit into their organisations’ overall vision and strategy, and effectively convey this information to stakeholders.

It has also helped its members hone their technical, leadership, and strategic and business management skills – the key components of success in a profession that expects to see an estimated 17,500 new jobs each year between now and 2020 in the UK alone.
