Henry Mkhwananzi elected president of Project Management Zimbabwe

21 February 2014 – Harare, Zimbabwe – Project Management Zimbabwe (PMZ) has announced that Project Management Professional (PMP) Mr. Henry Mkhwananzi has been elected new PMZ President. Mr Mkhwananzi was unanimously elected by 4 of the 5 PMZ National Chapters at the PMZ Board Meeting held in Gweru on Saturday, 15 February 2014. Mr. Mkhwananzi takes over from founder President Mr. Robert Taruwona who has been at the helm since 2010.  Three candidates had been nominated for the post but Mr. Mkhwananzi surged ahead with his impressive curriculum vitae to clinch the PMZ top post at the PMZ Gweru weekend electoral college.

140221-pmwj20-mkhwananzi-IMAGEHenry Mkhwananzi (pictured) brings to PMZ a new lease of project management governance and experience and has pledged to lobby the Government and the private sector to formally recognize Portfolio, Programme and Project Management if the country is to deliver national projects successfully.

Mkhwananzi is a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI-US) and a PRINCE2 Practitioner with 5 years’ experience in project management consulting and training. With experience in building PMOs within Telecommunications and Public (Infrastructure Projects) Sectors, he is also a facilitator in PMBOK and PMP Exam Prep Courses.

Mr. Mkhwananzi has spent more than 20 years employing project management best practices to deliver ICT/IS solutions at various levels (including Software Development, Systems Analysis and Design, WAN/LAN Architect and Management, IS Operations Executive and Group IS Management) in various sectors (including Hospitality & Tourism, Banking & Finance, Manufacturing and Air Transportation) specialising in Project, Program & Portfolio management, Requirements gathering and definition, Software development, Data Communications & Networking, Database design.

Henry Mkhwananzi is currently a full time Project Manager at Econet Wireless Zimbabwe in charge of the Designing, developing and implementing a comprehensive Business Continuity Management System for Econet Wireless Zimbabwe which will be independently certified by a body approved by the International Standards Organization to ISO 22301:2012.

Project Management Zimbabwe (PMZ – Project Management Institute of Zimbabwe) is Zimbabwe’s largest Association of Project Managers, with a membership base of over 1000.
