Project Management update from Argentina

By Ana María Rodríguez, MSE, PMP

Rosario, Argentina

PMI has been very active in Argentina during the month of September. Several events were offered in 4 cities:

September 6th– PM Day in Rosario:

The PM Day in Rosario, organized by the Buenos Aires Argentina Chapter, counted with recognized speakers. Mr. Jose Esterkin, president of the Buenos Aires Argentina chapter, opened the event with a very dynamic presentation on Change Management. Jose made a point, change requires a time to be incorporated and adopted as a regular issue in our lives, and not all changes introduced by projects are finally adopted.

Mr. Eduardo Fleischer from Uruguay, PMI Mentor for Region 13 was also present in Rosario, sharing an atypical and very active presentation on Estimates-Magic or Method. For sure we understood that next time our boss asks as for an estimate we will take some time to study the answer, before guessing and compromising to an unrealistic value.

Mr. Victor Orellana from Chile, was invited by PMI as a Subject Matter Expert. Victor shared his experience on studying the Japanese Tsunamy and its relationship to the Chilean earthquake. Victor is part of a joint-effort between several countries to improve Desaster recovery management.

Mr. Marcelo Ginestar was also present in Rosario sharing his experience managing the logistics of the Dakar Rally. For sure this is a real-life project full of adrenaline. Marcelo analyzed how all 9 PMBOK areas of knowledge have to be considered in order to deliver a successful project.
