AENOR implements the Project Management Guidelines in Spain

AENOR, responsible entity for technical guidelines in Spain, has published the Project Management Guidelines (UNE-ISO 21500), the Spanish version for ISO 21500 (“Guidance on Project Management”). This guideline was edited on 2012 by ISO (International Standards Organization).

The technical rules contain the best practices and the market consensus regarding the best way to move forward with these important processes for the organizations and for the society in general. These rules are elaborated with the participation from the different stakeholders in each case, being achievable for everybody. These rules have financial benefits: they suppose 1% from the Spanish and Germany PIB (producto interior bruto).

The guideline UNE-ISO 21500 collects all best Project management practices; its objective is to support organizations coming from all industries that are doing any size of projects to achieve its business objectives. Project management is the application of methods, tools, and techniques and competencies during the whole project life cycle to achieve the organizational success.

In the same way, it pretends to transmit how Project management is an efficient strategic tool for top management, who matches in all business environments and it is translated into benefits for the organization. The guideline UNE-ISO 21500 will contribute to do the projects correctly in organizations, with quality, on time and according to the established costs. This document is born to be converted into the main reference for all project management professionals.

Alfonso Bucero, MSc, PMP, PMI-RMP, PMI Fellow, is an International Correspondent and Contributing Editor for the PM World Journal in Madrid, Spain. Mr. Bucero is also founder and Managing Partner of BUCERO PM Consulting.  Alfonso was the founder, sponsor and president of the PMI Barcelona Chapter until April 2005, and belongs to PMI’s LIAG (Leadership Institute Advisory Group).  He was the past President of the PMI Madrid Spain Chapter, and now nominated as a PMI EMEA Region 8 Component Mentor. Alfonso has a Computer Science Engineering degree from Universidad Politécnica in Madrid and is studying for his Ph.D. in Project Management. He has 29 years of practical experience and is actively engaged in advancing the PM profession in Spain and throughout Europe.
