Call for Papers for New PM World Journal

Project management experts, professional leaders, practicing project managers and executives of project-based organizations are invited to submit an article, paper or story for publication in the new monthly PM World Journal (PMWJ).  This is an opportunity to share knowledge, get published or gain visibility for yourself and your organization in the global project management community.  Launched with the August 2012 edition, the PMWJ will be published at the beginning of each month, so submittals should be received by the 15th to make it into the next edition.

The PMWJ is seeking articles and papers in the following categories:

  • Featured Papers – professionally researched, referenced and written papers similar to what would be presented at a professional conference; these can also be the results of research studies or reports
  • Case Studies – a write-up on an actual project or program, or how some aspect of program or project management was implemented in an organization
  • Advisories – advice on how to solve a problem or address a specific program or project management related issue
  • Commentaries – short articles expressing an opinion or point of view about a program or project management topic
  • Student Papers – well written research papers prepared by graduate or undergraduate students of project management, recommended by a responsible faculty member or organization
  • Personal Stories – short descriptions of personal experiences on a project or related to project management
  • Reports – updates about PM professional activities, events or developments in a city or region of the world; these can provide information from national societies or local branches and chapters of international bodies
  • Book Reviews – professionally written reviews of project management books (a template can be provided for book reviews)
  • News Stories – articles about actual programs and projects, and P/PM-related research, education, publications, professional activities, events, organizations and people

A separate Category – Second Editions – allows authors to republish papers that have been previously published in a language other than English or in previous years, for example, at a project management conference.

For those holding a PMI project management certification, professional development units (PDUs) for recertification can be claimed for authoring a paper published in the PMWJ.  (Visit the PMI certification website for more information.)  For all authors, this is an opportunity to add another publication to your resume.  Interested authors should contact [email protected] or just email a paper for publication.

According to Managing Editor David Pells (pictured), “We are excited about our new eJournal and its mission, to support the creation and sharing of new knowledge about program and project management.  We are interested in articles and papers from around the world, with advise or knowledge that could be useful for managing projects in many different environments.”

‘The process is easy,” he adds.  “Just email the paper to me; we reformat it to a standard layout and return it to the author for approval.  Unlike many publications, you won’t have to wait months for approval or to see your paper published.  We are especially looking for articles on how project management can or is being used to solve global problems.”

The contents of each month’s PMWJ will be archived in a new PM World Library at www.pmworldlibrary.net (to be launched in the near future)  As a major new benefit for authors of PMWJ articles and papers, each author will receive an Author Showcase webpage in the library where her or his articles and papers will be showcased and easily found.  This will provide an individual and personalized archive for each PMWJ author.  For those who publish many articles and papers, such a personal showcase page should be useful as a reference to others.
