Project Management Institute Honors Nuevo Cuyo, Argentina Chapter with a 2012 PMI Chapter of the Year Award and Award for Leadership, Planning and Operations

5 November 2012, Mendoza, Argentina – The Nuevo Cuyo Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) has announced that it has been honored with a 2012 Chapter of the Year Award in Chapter Category I (1-300 members).  The Chapter also won a 2012 PMI Chapter Award for Leadership, Planning and Operations. The awards were presented during PMI’s annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 20 October 2012 at the Vancouver Convention Center in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

PMI’s Chapter of the Year Award recognizes chapters that have made a tremendous contribution to the development and implementation of the strategic vision and mission of the Institute through exemplary programs, products and services.  PMI’s Nuevo Cuyo, Argentina Chapter was specifically recognized for exceeding Chapter Target Objectives of membership by 24 percent, volunteer participation by 200 percent, as well as number of events by 250 percent.

PMI’s Chapter Award for Leadership, Planning and Operations recognizes chapters that have made a tremendous contribution to the development and implementation of the strategic vision and mission of the Institute through exemplary programs, products and services.

The Chapter was cited for the following accomplishments:

  • Supported the expansion of PMI in four different provinces throughout Argentina: Mendoza, San Juan, San Luis, and La Rioja.
  • Coordinated the PMI Tour Cono Sur Mendoza 2011 Congress with 400 attendees.
  • As the Chapter spanned an area of 404,900 square kilometers, electronic communications (newsletters, webinars, e-mails) were extensively used to communicate to the members
  • Chapter leadership received support from the Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and Washington, DC Chapters to enhance value to members.
  • Had Chapter booth at 6 events including Expomatica with 10,000 visitors
  • Supported educational outreach to 5 universities: Univeridad Nacional de Cuyo, de Mendoza, Tecnologica Nacional, de Champagnat, and de la Punta
  • Developed 22 press releases on PMI activities
  • Participated in 14 appearances on local media: radio, TV and local online and published newspapers

Pablo Lledó, Past President for PMI Nuevo Cuyo, said during the award ceremony: it is very exciting to receive such a wonderful award in name of our Chapter for the outstanding work that our volunteers made during 2011. We have a strongly committed team of volunteers and this award belongs to them. Thanks to PMI for the great organization and recognition; and specially thank you for the team of volunteers, leading by Mrs Victoria Ferro, who invest their precious time to complete the documentation to apply for this award. We are so proud to deliver value to our members as the best Chapter in our category!
