It will also assume the management and support of accredited training organisations, accredited certification organisations and examination institutes.

Dawn Marriott-Sims, executive director for Capita’s workplace services division, commented: “There has been a shift in the way people learn and how learning is delivered in the past decade, with the rise of simulation and ‘learning by doing’. One of the aims of the joint venture will be to modernise both the content and delivery of the Best Management Practice products to reflect this shift. Peter’s in-depth knowledge of the video gaming industry and international experience means he will be a great asset to the new company as it looks to invest in developing new digital platforms, content and product formats for the delivery of ITIL and PRINCE2 as well as expanding globally.”

William Jordan, Cabinet Office director on the joint venture board, said: “This is a highly innovative project which we expect will generate £500 million more for taxpayers over the next decade than if we’d left things as they are. Peter has the commercial experience and drive needed to establish the new business as the global leader for project management and IT service management qualifications.”

Peter added: “I am really looking forward to leading this exciting business. One of my priorities over the next few months will be to listen to and work with the practitioner communities, including accredited training organisations and examination institutes. Their input is vital as we work towards developing this new company and decide how best to take these world-class products to the next level.”

Peter Hepworth is the former UK boss at Activision.  Peter’s new appointment is effective from 1 July 2013. The new joint venture will be fully operational on 1 January 2014.
