Three-day executive seminars to focus on Portfolio Leadership

22 January 2015 – Johannesburg, South Africa – Project Management South Africa (PMSA) has announced two upcoming 3-day seminars featuring well-known American Professor Timothy Kloppenborg. The seminar series is titled “Executive Development for Portfolio Leaders: Global Insights, Local Realities, Universal Relevance”. Professor Kloppenborg focusses on the theme: Strategic Leadership of Portfolios and Projects to Successfully Implement Strategy. The seminars will be held in Midrand, Gauteng (Johannesburg) during 16-18 March and in Bellville, Western Cape (Capetown) during 25-27 March 2015. For information contact [email protected].

150122-pmwj31-kloppenborg-IMAGE1The seminars are aimed at senior managers and executives who (a) manage multiple Initiatives to achieve strategic objectives for the organisation; (b) are striving to apply more creativity and conceptualisation to their portfolio management role; and (c) serve as the link between innovative and creative decision-making and organisational objectives.

Participants are expected to include CIOs, IT Directors, Portfolio Managers, Infrastructure Executives, and current and prospective Project Management Office (PMO) Leaders.

This intensive 3-day seminar will focus on:

This seminar aims to bridge the gap between strategy and execution.  We will explore organisational structures, roles and responsibilities, and methods of linking projects successfully to organizational goals.  We will consider impediments that organisations face when implementing goals and how a sensible project management system can overcome these.

150122-pmwj31-kloppenborg-IMAGE2 PHOTOTimothy J. Kloppenborg is the Castellini Distinguished Professor of Management at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Tim has consulted and trained with dozens of companies and government organizations.  He supervised over 150 student teams as they planned projects. He has served on a number of boards, having been president of several including the global Colleagues in Jesuit Business Education.  Tim is a retired U.S.A.F. Reserve Major.  He has been active in Project Management Institute (PMI) for 25 years and has been a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) for over 20 years.

Dr. Kloppenborg has published about 100 articles, books, chapters, and papers.  His current books include Strategic Leadership of Portfolio and Project Management, Contemporary Project Management 2nd Ed, Project Leadership and Managing Project Quality. Tim has previously held faculty positions at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Air Force Institute of Technology and Southern Cross University.  His Ph.D. in Operations Management is from University of Cincinnati.
