First Speakers announced for June 2014 African Project and Program Management Conference in Ghana

3 May 2013 – Accra, Ghana – The Governing Council for the 2014 African Project and Program Management Conference (APPMC) being held in Accra during 23-28 June 2014 have announced the first set of speakers.  The event is being organized by the Direct Leadership Institute (DLI), African Project and Program Management Association (APPMA) and the American Academy of Project Management ® (AAPM®) – an Academy recognized in over 150+ countries via 800 training providers, universities, colleges and business schools.

1.  Mr Samuel Sallas-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of Public Procurement Authority, Ghana.  Mr. Sallas-Mensah also serves on the International Advisory Group on Procurement for the World Bank.

2.  Margaret Gilbert, Director of Contract Matters Ltd and Corporate Contacts Management Ltd.  Margaret operates both in New Zealand and overseas.   Margaret has over 21 years’ experience in the contract/procurement area and has worked in Australia and the United States of America.

3. Dr. Oluwayomi Kayode Babatunde, lecturer at the School of Construction Economics & Management at the Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg. He is a registered member of the Society of Project Managers, Singapore and Project Management Institute, USA. His over twelve years of working experience spans Interior Design, Architecture, Real Estate Management, and Project Management in Nigeria, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Singapore.

5. Prof Festus Ukwuoma, Head of the Department of Project Management Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria.

6. Mr. Kenneth Ashigbey, Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Ltd, Ghana’s leading media organisation, where he is responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision.

7. Rania Al-Maghraby, an independent management consultant from Egypt. She is PMP® certified, ITIL® Foundation certified, and MSc Computer Science. Rania is a certified OPM3® Consultant and Assessor, among only less than 85 certified professionals globally, and the first in Egypt. She has been a speaker at several professional events including PMI Global Congress and IPMA World Congress.

Project Director of APPMC, Dr Donald Agumenu, said in a statement that the final list of speakers would be announced by end of May.

Also according to Mr. Agumenu, after the conference, selected papers will be published in a special issue of the PM World Journal (www.pmworldjournal.net), an online publication devoted to knowledge creation and sharing, and continuous learning in the field of modern program and project management.

The African Project and Program Management Conference (APPMC) is the first chartered PM certification conference in Africa.
