First Call for Research Papers for PMSA 2014 National Conference

Growing Project Management in South Africa is theme for biennial national conference in late Septembe

29 April 2013 – Johannesburg, South Africa – Project Management South Africa (PMSA) has issued a First Call for Research Papers for their Biennial National Conference 2014 scheduled for 29 September – 1 October 2014.  The 2014 conference with theme of “Growing Project Management in South Africa” will be held at The Wanderers, Illovo, Johannesburg.

140429-pmwj22-first-call-IMAGEPMSA invites researchers, practitioners and enthusiasts to submit a high-quality, original abstract followed later by a final research paper for presentation at the PMSA National Conference 2014.  The conference will explore themes, trends and practices relevant to growing and enabling project success in Africa across the spectrum of industries.

Presentations, workshops and research papers will be presented in topic-specific themes expected to include the following:

  • Best practices: Proven methodologies and success stories on projects grown and / or delivered in Africa
  • Research and Innovation: What we’ve learned and what we know about overcoming challenges that prohibit project success in Africa
  • Insights into the nature of project management as it applies to the continent, how it is different or similar to trends in the rest of the world
  • Technology: How IT and telecoms are enabling better project management on the continent
  • PM for the greater good: Applying project management to social causes. Including people, planet and profit in our project practices and realising some of the socioeconomic imperatives on the continent.
  • Applying ethical practice as project practitioners
  • Updating the project toolkit: Tips, tools and techniques that pave the way for effective project management.
  • Project People: Individual characteristics and traits that serve companies and individual practitioners well when rolling out projects in Africa.

Project Management South Africa (PMSA) is a Section 21 (not-for-gain) professional association representing the interests of project, programme and portfolio management practitioners in South Africa.  PMSA has a membership of over 1 500 project management practitioners at various career stages and has existed as an autonomous representative body for 15 years.
