Buenos Aires Chapter wins 2012 PMI Chapter of the Year Award

30 October 2012 – The Project Management Institute (PMI®) has announced that it has honored its PMI Buenos Aires,  Argentina Chapter with a 2012 Project Management Institute (PMI®) Chapter of the Year award in Chapter Category II. The award was presented during PMI’s annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 20 October 2012 at the Vancouver Convention Center.

PMI’s Chapter of the Year Award recognizes communities that have made a tremendous contribution to the development and implementation of the strategic vision and mission of the Institute through exemplary programs, products and services.  PMI’s Buenos Aires Chapter was specifically recognized for their rapid increase in their members and volunteers, as well as their work with their own Chapter community outreach, including the use of magazines and websites.

The PMI Buenos Aires, Argentina Chapter was founded in October 1996 by a group of thirty-three members, most of them from the IT industry. Today, it has over 580 members (more than 240 are PMPs), and although the majority of members are in the computer industry, many members joined from other industries.

A few of their many accomplishments include:

  • Grew membership by 32% to over 500 members
  • Achieved member retention rate of 86%
  • Grew volunteer participation by 50%
  • Grew participation in Chapter LinkedIn site by 85%
  • Coordinated events to 6 locations: Buenos Aires, Rosario, Cordoba, Santa Fe, La Plata, and Salta Santa Fe and Salta, La Plata
  • Distributed 1,000 Chapter brochures at 8 regional events

PMI also honored the PMI Buenos Aires Chapter with a 2012 PMI Chapter Award for Leadership, Planning and Operations. PMI’s Chapter Award for Leadership, Planning and Operations recognize communities that have made a tremendous contribution to the development and implementation of the strategic vision and mission of the Institute through exemplary programs, products and services.

According to Jose Esterkin, PMI Buenos Aires Chapter President: “This award recognizes our excellence and quality in the implementation of our vision as a Chapter and operational processes. This is a collective achievement made possible by our wonderful group of 70 volunteers, who continuously define, plan and execute a portfolio of projects aimed to deliver value to members”.
