Jouko Vaskimo, PMWJ Senior Contributing Editor in Finland, nominated PM Training Portfolio Development Manager at Aalto PRO

Mr Jouko Vaskimo, MSc (Eng) has been nominated as project management training portfolio development manager at Aalto University Professional DevelopmentAalto PRO – unit starting August 1st 2012. Mr Vaskimo assumes the position following Aalto PRO strategic decision to further emphasize the project management training offering for which it is nationally and internationally recognized.

Jouko has been involved with projects for twenty years, and has held a range of positions with increasing responsibility throughout his career. Graduating from Helsinki University of Technology in 1992 he was hired as a technology coordinator by Sinebrychoff, the oldest brewery in Scandinavia, for relocating the decommissioned Helsinki brewery to St Petersburg, Russia. In early 1996 he was employed by Kemira Engineering, the in-house engineering office of a major Finnish chemicals producer, as a subproject manager in charge of mechanical equipment. He was contracted as a program leader by DNA Finland, a new mobile phone operator, in August 2001, and as a process development manager by Nokia Business Infrastructure in late 2004. His duties included developing NOCOP, the Nokia BI project management methodology. For the last six years he has worked as a Projects Director, investigating and implementing PMOs, project, program and portfolio management, project management methodology as well as competence development at Ixonos Project Management Services.

Jouko is very active in several project management related volunteer positions. He is a member of PMAF (Project Management Association Finland) Board of Directors, chairman of IPMA (International Project Management Association) certification body operating IPMA project management certification in Finland, the head of the Finnish delegation to ISO / TC 258 (ISO technical committee for project, program and portfolio management) and the chairman of the Finnish mirror committee SR 206.  He served as the PMForum correspondent in Finland from 2008 until 2011, and now functions as the senior contributing editor in charge of Finland for Project Management World Journal. As an active amateur photographer, Jouko is often seen providing photographic coverage of international project management events with his camera.

Jouko has an impressive collection of project management certificates: He is a Certified Scrum Master, and has been PRINCE2 Foundation, PMP, IPMA Level C and IPMA Level B IPMA certified. He is a regular lecturer at University of Helsinki and Aalto University, and at Finnish and international project management conferences.
